This video (which doesn't allow embedding) just freaks me out. The way the quadraped robot is able to correct itself when pushed, when slipping on ice, and when climbing over rubble is pretty amazing. I guess the future is closer than we think.

The timer had started resetting in the middle of a cooling cycle, which was a pain in the ass, but when it started resetting in the middle of a roast, that made it impossible to use. The manufacturer (Nesco) is unwilling to just send the microprocessor board so that I can replace it, and shipping to and from their service center in the Midwest plus the cost of the part would be a significant part of the cost of a new unit (which, considering how crappy the customer service was turning out to be, I was not particularly interested in). So...
