20 years ago today...

I was working at Time/Life Books in New York City as a telemarketer. There was this exceptionally cute woman with a remarkable smile who was working the morning shift. We had been seated next to each other on a couple of weekend shifts and made each other laugh. On June 3, 1988, a Friday, I walked in to start my shift as hers was ending and saw her peeking in her pay envelope. I said, "So, where are you taking me to dinner?" and we both laughed. The next day, we shared the second Saturday shift, and when it was over, she walked up to me and said, "Let's go talk about where I'm taking you to dinner." And that was that. One year later, to the day, we got married, and have been wending out way through life's hills and valleys together ever since. Every once in a while, we pause at the top of a hill, look back and say, "Wow!"

Happy anniversary, honey. It's been a long strange trip (but mostly a huge amount of fun).
