"Living in today's complex world of the future is a lot like having bees live in your head." Or, I guess, your chest. According to this article in the New Scientist technology newsletter, it's possible for hackers to target pacemakers and other medical hardware, so there's one more thing we need to worry about. As is pointed out in the article, for those of you who believe that nobody would stoop so low to do such a thing, last year some folks hacked the Epilepsy Foundation's website to show flashing images that were intended to cause seizures in those who have photosensitive epilepsy.

Along with the announcement of new algebraic decryption techniques (see this article in Computer World), it looks as if securing your personal medical devices against tampering might be the next wave of security nightmare.
