A disclaimer first - I've only been involved in organized sf fandom for a little over 5 years, which apparently makes me, despite three terms as LASFS President and currently serving on the Board of Directors of said organization as secretary, a gross newbie to many folks who've been involved in fandom far longer, as some of them love to remind me. As such, you may, if you feel so inclined, dismiss everything I'm about to say as the lunatic ravings of someone who hasn't been involved long enough or deeply enough (for example, I've never staffed or chaired a con and am determined to keep it that way. Well, okay, I ran volunteers for Gallifrey One once, but I really didn't' know any better at the time, I swear. And then there was that running the Con Suite at LaLaCon a few years ago, but that's just a small relaxacon, so it doesn't really count, does it?) to even think about having any opinions on the matter. As a matter of fact, if you're inclined that way, you might want to just move along to the next post on your friends list and not click on the cut unless you just want to read stuff that may punch some buttons.

Click here for hyperbolic blather, rabble-rousing, and nose-pulling )

And there you have it, folks - straight from the horse's... well, let's say mouth just to be kind, shall we?

P.S. I couldn't afford a voting Worldcon membership this year, but if I had, I'd be voting for Chris Garcia (aka [livejournal.com profile] johnnyeponymous) for best fan writer, both because I admire his work and his finely tuned sense of the absurd, and because he's my friend, Just so you know.
