For some reason, I decided to TiVo the SciFi Channel mini-series, The Lost Room. Dunno why, but I'm glad I did.
_darkvictory and I just watched the first two of the three parts and we're completely sucked in. Well written, well cast (Peter Krause from 6 Feet Under is great as the lead), great score, and it's been keeping me surprised. I just hope that the third part doesn't let me down (though it would have to make some serious missteps to do that). I do believe that this one will be worth picking up on DVD when it's released that way.
Is it science fiction? Well, no science has popped up just yet, just some objects with, shall we say, unusual properties, and I am wondering if there's going to be any attempt to explain just what they are and how they do what they do. Then again, things have been happening pretty quickly and it's unlikely that a police detective would have handy scientific explanations to hand about how something like a comb could stop time or a watch-box could temporarily halt entropy, so I'll just have to wait. If it wasn't for the fact that it's closing on 11 pm and we'd prefer not to stay up until 1 am to watch it, I'd fire up part 3 tonight. I would recommend this one pretty strongly based on what we've seen thus far.
