Our Government at work
Dec. 5th, 2006 09:03 pmSo I found this piece in the Christian Science Monitor. I think what bothers me the most is the quoted attitude of the INS guy sending an innocent man off to be tortured by the Syrians (that would be that "extraordinary rendition" thing they talk about, wouldn't it?) with the rationalization that it wasn't the INS who signed the Geneva Accords. The further galling thing is that, even after he's been found to be completely the wrong man, he can't even get an apology from the U.S. government.
Of course, the saddest thing is, we have no idea how many more guys like this there are.
Well, as Former Speaker Gingrich mentioned last week in New Hampshire, we'll just have to give up those little freedoms here and there, ya know? (I know irony doesn't always communicate itself well in internet posts, but please consider that last sentence to have been dunked in the bucket and still dripping.)
